Rams Season Finale Recap

Sunday was the final game of the season for the Rams as they hosted the 49ers.  It brings another season that Rams fans certainly want to forget about.  As the Rams finished their 2009 season with a (1-15) record there are many question marks heading into the off season, but there is one thing the Rams know for sure.  They hold the 1st overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft.  Some of the question marks surrounding the team during the offseason will revolve around the offense which had a lackluster year.  Will Marc Bulger return as the starting QB in 2010?  Will the Rams make a move for a big play receiver, and what other players will they try to bring in during free agency?

I think the team has made some improvements on the defensive side of the ball.  I look forward to seeing what Coach Spags does in this offseason and to what draft picks they make.  Another year of getting personnel that works for his defense should only help improve this defense.

The Rams fell today 28-6 in a game that featured little offensive output from the Rams.  Rookie Keith Null and backup quaterback Kyle Boller combined for 80 yards passing.  Steven Jackson whose been having a solid season was shut down gaining only 63 yards on 20 carries.  Earlier in the week he was named as the lone Rams representitive in the Pro Bowl.  Jackson was leading the NFC in rushing yards going into this contest.  The offensive line had a dismal day as Rams quarterbacks were sacked a total of 8 times for a loss of 58 yards.  The totals are not pretty at all.  The Rams finished the game with 22 net yards passing.  The Rams had a total of 6 first downs to go along with 109 yards of total offense.  The Rams ran 62 plays meaning the average gain per play was 1.8.  It was a very dismal performance yet the Rams had a 3-0 lead at Halftime.  The Rams also had added a field goal early in the 4th quarter to cut their defecit to 1 point down 7-6.  However the 49ers scored 21 unanswered points and ran away with this game 28-6.
